"When I got to the Pike in 1980, there were six tattoo shops, I think. They started me at Bert Grimms at the Rose Tattoo which is actually on the Pike itself. I lived in the back of the tattoo shop and it was a little apartment and it was like a hundred years old. Maybe they built it in 1910. The Pike was really a wild place. It was beautiful, the Pike."
